A few key points about the tax credit
- Any qualifying vehicle (2009 ML320, 2009 R320, 2009 GL320) must be purchased. Lease vehicles do not qualify.
- Credit is not realized at retail purchase. Must be applied for individually by the customer, and claimed on their Income Tax Return (1040). Each customer should consult their tax adviser for more details.
- 2009 E320 BlueTEC Diesel does not qualify
Don't delay
The tax credit is phased out once a manufacture sells 60,000 eligible vehicles(hybrid/diesel). Thus eliminating the tax credit. Case in point, Toyota/Lexus reached their allocation of hybrids in October 2007, thus the tax credit is not available for anyone purchasing those models.
